I’ve been busy with design work recently and haven’t been able to post much! I’ve always been good at art but never tried making art on the computer. For the past week or so I’ve been trying to learn an open-source vector imaging software called Inkscape. Not only am I learning a new program, but I’m having to learn to draw with a tablet. It’s interesting but somewhat tedious and necessary.

Anywho, I’m probably going to end up taking an Adobe Illustrator Essential Training course on Lynda.com – there aren’t many great tutorials on Inkscape from what I’ve found yet. I’m hoping my skills learned in the Illustrator course will transfer over to Inkscape. If anyone knows of a great Inkscape tutorial please post it in the comments section below!

Here’s a small sample of what I’ve been working on recently*:

For anyone out there who uses Linux you should recognize the flat, circular Numix theme. It happens to be my favorite theme at the moment and I like the idea of having a relatively simple, flat icon.

More recipes are one their way – I just need to go to the grocery store first!
